Partiality!

Little kids following their siblings
While having fun and playing in the park
Hopping and running after each other
From one end of it to the other

Smiles and laughs are all around
Parents alongwith their kids
Enjoying the beautiful sunset
But I am wondering why is she upset

There she is sitting at the extreme end
A beautiful face with a sad smile
The smile is because of what she sees
Sad because her legs are confined upto her knees

Had she got two legs like others
She would have been so happy like them
God...Why has she been trapped?
Why did you make her handicapped?

दोस्ती और एक सफ़र

चुन लिए कुछ पल हमने अपनी ज़िन्दगी से कल
सोचा इन्हें बना दें यादगार हमेशा के लिए
कितना खुशगवार होगा आने वाला कल
कह नहीं सकते तो जियें यह पल सिर्फ अपने ही लिए ||

उठके, भरी नींद में आँखें मूंदते हुए
सुबह होने से पहले ही चल पड़े कदम
टपरी पे चाय की चुसकियों के साथ
होने लगा इस हसीं सफ़र का जनम ||

कुछ गाने कुछ नगमे, कुछ नए कुछ पुराने
कुछ छेड-छाड कुछ मस्ती, कुछ रोके कुछ हँसके
कुछ गालियाँ कुछ गप-शप, कुछ सोके कुछ जग के
न कोई गिले न शिकवे, दोस्त होते ही हैं कुछ हट के ||

हँसते गाते , घूमते घुमाते
सुबह से जाने कब शाम हो गई
वक़्त भी गुज़रता गया कुछ यूँ
जैसे बिन पानी बरसात हो गई ||

गाते गुनगुनाते चलता रहा कारवाँ
थी चाहे शाम या था सवेरा
लौटने का मन न था किसी का भी
दिल में था बस यादों का बसेरा ||

दोस्तों से बढ़कर कुछ भी नहीं यहाँ
कितना सच है यह क्या खूब ख्याल है
खुद को पहचानने का ज़रिया हैं वोह
कहा जाए तो आईने से भी ज्यादा कमाल है ||

अजीब ज़बरदस्ती

कुछ बातें जब भी थी सुनती

बस मज़ाक ही थी लगती
औरों की बस थी उम्मीद वही
मैं बस उन्हें देखती रहती
उन चेहरों की लकीरें पढ़ती
क्यूँ करना पड़ा आज मुझे भी वही
क्या अजीब है यह ज़बरदस्ती
पढके वोह चेहरे, बस हमेशा ही हँसती

Looking through the eyes
with cheeks slightly apart
Flaunting the teeth inside
What a beautiful piece of art!

It is an effortless task
with which everyone can relate
One aphorism for it says
"A curve that sets everthing straight"

Neither does it make any sound
Nor does it stay calm
It is such a simple thing yet
It does strike a chord

Some say it is a gesture
Some call it an expression
Some say it is a sign of joy
I call it a sign of unmatched perfection

The First Man

पहली बार देखा जो उन्हें, नज़रें उनपे ही टिकी रही
एक पहचान बन गई, हम दोनों के दरमियां

हर ग़म हर ख़ुशी में, उनको अपने नज़दीक पाया

एक लगाव हो गया, हम दोनों के दरमियां

रोते हुए देख मुझे, सहलाने आते वोह मुझको
एक प्यार का रिश्ता है हम दोनों के दरमियां

खुश होते देख मुझे, झूम उठता उनका भी दिल

बचपना मेरा देख आज भी, चेहरे पे छाती है एक मुस्कान
एक अनकहा सा एहसास है हम दोनों के दरमियां

हँसी मुझे भी आती है, शैतानियाँ देखके उनकी 
शब्दों के जाल बिछाते हैं वोह हम दोनों के दरमियां

अन्देखा करती हूँ मैं भी, हर उनके दाव को 
मुस्कुराहटें खिल जाती हैं हम दोनों के दरमियां

वोह पापा हैं मेरे, परी हूँ मैं उनकी
एक अटूट रिश्ता है हम दोनों के दरमियां

पश्चाताप

चाहत की प्यास बुझ न पाई 

दुनिया सिमट सी आई है

पीने लगे तो ज़हन में आया 
भला पानी ने भी कभी आग बुझाई है!

रूठे उस दिल को अब 
मनाने की ख्वाहिश है 
कदम आगे बढाये तो जाना 
उसने खुद को ही सज़ा सुनाई है

संभालने लगे खुद को जब 
रुकावटें कईं आ खडी हुई 
शराब से नाता जुड़ गया तो सुना 
मयखाने में किसी ने आग लगाई है

जल रहा यह दिल है अब 
शरीर भी अब ज़िन्दा लाश है 
उसकी मौत के ग़म के साथ
आज मेरी मौत की भी सुनवाई है

Nishu

Sitting on a chair
around the dining table
she asks for a tissue
And I hear it as 'Nishu'
Talking on phone
while taking a stroll in a park
she says 'I miss u'
And I hear it as 'Nishu'
Tying his laces with the little hands
the cute kid says
'Where is the other shoe?'
And I hear it as 'Nishu'
In an onsite call
Sirjee from the US says
'There is an issue'
And I hear it as 'Nishu'
My brain sets an alert to words
which have 'ss' or 'sh'
as part of their body
And I hear it as 'Nishu'
